Ruark Audio products now available at Hi-Fi Stereo

Ruark Audio R1 Mk3, R2 Mk3, R4 Mk3 and MR1s

Hi-Fi Stereo is proud to announce that it now stocks Ruark Audio products. Since 2006, this British, family firm has produced one award-winning radio or all-in-one system after another. In fact, Ruark products have picked up What Hi-Fi awards for seven years in a row and also been championed by Hi-Fi Choice, T3, Classic FM, Macworld and many more publications.

Here are the details of some fabulous Ruark products, all of which boast quality construction and excellent sound quality.

R1 Mk3 deluxe tabletop radio - The Ruark R1 is a radio housed in a compact, wooden cabinet with a clear OLED display and dual alarms. It's the perfect bedside radio/alarm clock.

  • Sound is reproduced via the 3.5" drive unit.
  • Tuners are incorporated for FM (with RDS), DAB and DAB+. (DAB+ broadcasts - not yet available in the UK - will offer superior sound quality and better reception.)
  • Streaming from Bluetooth devices is also possible.
  • Features Ruark's RotoDial control on the unit's top.
  • On the unit's rear, there's a USB socket for charging devices.
  • The rear is also home to a headphone jack and a 3.5mm input.
  • The R1 is so stylish and easy to use that it's found in the rooms of the London's Savoy hotel.
  • Which? magazine awarded the R1 the status of Best Buy.
  • The R1 is just 17cm tall but, to make the radio/streamer truly portable, Ruark has produced the BackPack and CarryPack accessories. The BackPack is a rechargeable power pack that provides hours of mains-free listening. The CarryPack is a leather case that protects the R1 and incorporates a handle to make the radio easy to carry.
  • The R1 Mk3 retails for £199.99.

R2 Mk3 streaming music system - The Ruark R2 is 34cm wide - large enough to incorporate high-quality components and two 3.5" drive units that produce a fine stereo image yet still compact enough to offer many options in where to place it. The R2 offers all of the features of the R1 plus the following:

  • More than double the power output of the R1.
  • Internet radio/wireless streaming from computers and NAS drives. Support for Spotify Connect.
  • The Bluetooth streaming supports aptX, allowing playback of higher-resolution files.
  • Multiple R2s can be synchronised for multi-room playback.
  • As well as the RotoDial control, a remote control is included.
  • The USB socket allows the playback of music through it as well as charging.
  • Two external sources can be plugged in to the R2. A front-mounted 3.5mm socket is supplemented by a pair of gold-plated phono sockets on the rear of the R2.
  • The R2 was awarded the prize for best all-in-one system at the 2015 What Hi-Fi awards.
  • The R2 Mk3 retails for £399.99.

R4 Mk3 integrated music system - The Ruark R4 Mk3 is Ruark's latest model: a system that packs much into its separates-size chassis. As well as including virtually all of the great features of the R2, the R4 also offers the following:

  • Enhanced sound quality, powered by Class A-B amplification.
  • Four times the power output of the R2.
  • Integrated active subwoofer with 5" driver.
  • The R4 incorporates a CD player with text support (text support is also provided for USB playback).
  • A more ergonomic remote control is supplied.
  • Additional connections include an optical input and (to facilitate recording) gold-plated phono outputs.
  • The R4 retails for £649.99.

MR1 Bluetooth speaker system - The Ruark MR1 Bluetooth speakers are active, compact, desktop speakers which negate the need for a separate amplifier. Features include the following:

  • Each speaker has a separate tweeter and woofer instead of a combined drive unit.
  • The MR1s are powered by Class A-B amplification.
  • The Bluetooth functionality supports aptX for higher-resolution streaming.
  • A multi-function control dial is housed on top of the right speaker.
  • A remote control is provided.
  • A 3.5mm input is provided, which can be used to hear, say, a record deck or boost the output of a laptop.
  • If deeper bass is required, an external subwoofer can be connected.
  • The MR1s support Ruark's BackPack for battery-powered listening away from a mains supply.
  • A pair of MR1s retails for £299.99.

All four of the above products are available in a choice of Soft Black or Soft White lacquers or a Rich Walnut veneer.

Ruark has done a great job of blending classic/retro design with modern, convenient features. These highly regarded items are now available at Hi-Fi Stereo.
