Cyrus CD i: Cyrus' best CD player yet

A selection of award-winning products

Cyrus recently streamlined its range of CD players. Whilst the highly regarded British hi-fi company offers two CD transports, it now only offers one player that incorporates a DAC. But the price and performance of the Cyrus CD i makes it a player that appeals to many. At £1050, the CD i is cheaper than the CD 8 SE2 (Cyrus' previous top-of-the-range integrated player) by some margin and yet it sounds noticeably better.

The Servo Evolution technology that has underpinned Cyrus' award-winning players since 2008 (but has been continually enhanced) is employed to spin and read discs in a way that supports hi-fi of this calibre. The CD i shares many of its components with the CD Xt Signature (the top-end transport). Unlike the transport, though, the CD i contains an internal DAC. The CD i's 32-bit DAC converts the data into an engrossing listen.

Optical and coaxial digital connections are provided as well as analogue phono outputs.

As amazing as the CD i sounds, the player's output can be elevated further by partnering the unit with a Cyrus PSX-R2 power supply.

A newly designed remote control is supplied. Colour options for the player are brushed black and quartz silver.

The Cyrus CD i has been named What Hi-Fi's CD player of the year, conveying the player's ability and value for money. See and hear it now at Hi-Fi Stereo.
